Company

A founder who works the whole stack, building toward a small, senior team.

01Founder

Jack Moriarty

Founder

Jack Moriarty leads slab.ai full-time, owning product, AI/ML architecture, and strategy. He is building the company within Connecticut's startup ecosystem, including the UConn Technology Incubation Program.

slab.ai is deliberately scoped for a solo operator today: one system, built carefully, with every decision recorded and every claim testable.

02Principles

Operating principles

Measurement over prediction

Grades should rest on evidence you can inspect, not on confidence you're asked to extend.

Honesty over polish

We say what exists and what doesn't. Pre-launch means pre-launch — the status chip on this site is a feature, not a disclaimer.

Systems over heroics

Consistency is engineered. If a result depends on someone having a good day, the system isn't finished.

With the hobby, not around it

Shops and shows are where cards live. slab.ai is built to make local card shops stronger, not to route past them.

03Team

Roles we're building toward

slab.ai is structured to expand to a small, senior early team. These are planned roles — not current staff — and we'd rather meet the right people early.

Operations

Kiosk deployment, shop relationships, and the physical logistics of a grading network.

Technical leadership

Deep ownership of the platform as it grows beyond one builder.

Grading & domain expertise

The trained eye — condition judgment, review standards, and the hobby's institutional knowledge.

Go-to-market & community

The collector-facing voice: shops, shows, and the community where the hobby lives.
